So new it hurts ; )

Ok - so I am new to the internet (www.bbwfetishfairy.com) and I need to generate traffic. I've checked dozens of these types of "newbie" message boards - but I don't really see anything for the truly NEW newbie.

The only thing I understand, somewhat, are TPG's and submitting to them.

I was told to get some affiliate programs, but I don't even know what that means - or how I go about getting them and making them work.

If anyone out there has the patience to explain things to me a little bit - I would truly be in your debt.

Thanks so much

Wow... that IS new...

An affiliate program is 1 or more paysites that PAY webmasters to genereate sales for them. here is 1: Top Bucks

all the banners at the top of this page are affiliate programs too!

You sign up with the program You like for free... download some banners for the site You want to promote, and maybe some free content... build a Gallery or Free Site and submit them to TGP's or Link Lists...

One potential traffic source and the one most talked about on these forums is 'Link List' traffic. This is a symbiotic relationship between 'free sites' and link lists. Submitters (you) build free sites (surf any major link list for examples), then submit them to Link Lists. The symbiotic nature of things is that you're providing content to the link list and in return, they provide you with traffic

A word of caution because you're brand new and don't know...as you're surfing free sites to see what works and what doesn't, never ever copy someone else's site. Use the research to ascertain what it takes to get listed, and get ideas...nothing more.

Once you've got a site built, post it up here asking for feedback...there are a lot of helpful folks on these forums

Another good source of targetted traffic would be BBW "Friends Lists". The type I'm referring to rank links based on incoming hits, as opposed to just a static link/banner page. (example) not a BBW friends list, but that's the type I'm talkin' about.

Don't be in too big of a rush to put up an affiliate program. I see far too many independent amateur sites jump the gun on this and their program never fully recovers.

You first need to make sure your site converts, get your tour fine tuned, accumulate some content, and establish yourself as a site that isn't going to disappear tomorrow.

When you do decide to launch an affiliate program, have all your ducks in a row. Have promo content available, hosted galleries, a nice selection of various sized banners, etc. organized in a pass protected webmaster area.

There's alot more to having a successful affiliate program than just putting up a webmaster page with a signup form.

I like the domain name..

As Mr Yum said, you could submit to links lists, just make sure you put their link on your site. You could also submit to link dumps, will bring some traffic. Also a great way to get traffic and sell your surfers is to have a blog.

I also agree, starting a affialite program might sound good but if your new and your paysite is new, you would probably bite off more than you could handle. You've got to get your paysite selling first and at a good rate. If you a start up aaffilate program and you dont know how to sell yourself, webmasters wont make money and you'll probably make a bad name for your program.

an affialate is a company that will give you free content and linking codes to thier page and pay you if someone uses that link code to get to thier website and join or buy something. i,m still very new at this too and i know what its like to try to decipher some of this jargon take it one page at a time.
