You spend the time to build a site, submit to link lists, wait and hope to get listed and then when you get the traffic to your site you encourage them to leave by having an exit link on the most important page of your site? |goodidea

A damn fine point

I used to use exits on all free sites, haven't done so in quite some time for exactly the reasons stated.

Well you know boys, a nuclear reactor is a lot like women. You just have to read the manual and press the right button

Pardon me, but if they click on the "exit here" thing, doesn't means that they are not interested in your site?

For all of you who aren't using an exit link: did you noticed more sales or anything after removing the exit links? (i'm just curious)

Right !
If someone is not interested enough in downloading free content then it is very unlikely that he will purchase a membership so i want to "get rid" of him as soon as possible - before he consumes any bandwidth.

Untill now, I agree with you. I'm interested in hearing other oppinions, too.

How do you know that when they have only seen one page out of four pages? The exit link is nothing but distraction, some people choose to use it and some don't. If I use an exit link and see 1000 clicks on it, I will sit down and re-evaluate my marketing technique rather than trying to get rid of them and make a few cents out of them by sending them to another site!

Don't take me wrong but that comment tells me you need a lot of learning to do. I make good income from pages that don't offer ANY free content. Make a decent hub with different niches and link to that instead and see how it does

I am just stating my opinion, you guys do what you wish with your sites

Fuck, my hand hurts. What am I doing posting on the board with my messed up hand

That's why I asked earlier "why have an exit link?" IMO it's a traffic leak/distraction as mentioned by CrazySy. Most of my hits to sponsors come from my index page so I don't want any other things there except sponsor links and an enter link to the next page. I would much rather get that $35.00 from my sponsor than $4.00 for a T-shirt.
