Instead of focusing on getting rid of something you should adopt a positive attitude and focus on what you want. Here is what I propose. Build a pop-under page and fill it with 20-30 relevant toplist links. Link to it from your home page. This will ensure it gets indexed. Code the pop-under java script so that it is triggered only once per browser session. You can also use a cookie to set it to once per week, etc.. Get rid of all your reciprocal links on the first page. At a minimum put them at the bottom of your home page. I suggest you have a separate reciprocal link page. The way your site is designed, the reciprocal links are a massive leak in your site. Link to sponsor reviews such as those proposed by rabbitreviews.com At least you increase the probability of making money with your exit traffic. Feed your site just like the other posts suggest. If you don't want to build and submit galleries, you can use ChokerTraffic to send traffic to your site directly. All of this will contribute to get the traffic flywheel going. Good luck |

Just remember, that's a great way to piss off any surfers you currently have.

It'll also piss off your link trade partners and eliminate any chance of future trades.

You can also set your pop-under to once a month, if your surfer has cookie enables. If he doesn't then who cares. CCbill won't work and many cookie based program won't either. Greenie's comments are rather radical. Mainstream sites are now defeating the popup blocker and using other techniques to get their ads in your face for one reason: It works and people do go back to the site when it is relevant. |

This board is composed mostly of webmasters who follow a no bullshit philisophy when it comes to the surfer and our fellow webmasters. Most of us would deny any link exchange request where the requesting site has any type of pop, be it every visit or once per millenium.

Again, most webmaster (95%) account for 5% of affiliate commissions. This might be hard to swallow but that's reality! I'm not too concerned about being like every body else. |

Good, go be your own person. Go be part of that 5%. More power to you. Just don't expect not to be corrected when you give poor advice to newbies.

It is pretentious of you to infer that you are correct and I am wrong. I think this should be left for the reader to decide. Unless you think they can't think for themselves. |

We're a group of hard working webmasters that don't fuck with our surfers with consoles or pop-unders or circle jerks or blind links or poor advertising practices. We all basically build sites that we would have no problem surfing ourselves. Your ideas seem to be different from those - and that's fine but you're going to meet a lot of opposition on this board. I'll admit that your last 2 threads over in Products & Services led me to believe you were some sort of spamming kook, but this thread has proven me wrong on that assumption. I'm not going to ban you because of your position on what marketing practices are good or bad, but I really think that my last statement is correct: this board is not a good place for you. |

What I hate is when I tell somebody what I do, and I hear "Oh, one of them pop up guys."
What I like is when they check out a couple of my sites and say "Hey man, you've got some pretty good stuff there!" I like to think that most surfers have a good experience at my sites and a lot of them bookmark them. A lot of them buy as well. I've only been doing it full time for 9 years or so though, maybe pop-ups are the wave of the future And if you're going to go that route, why limit yourself to pissing off surfers when you can go the whole nine yards and piss off link partners as well? We need a sarcastic button ![]()
