Hi! I use virtual hosting at Dreamhost.com (plan: Crazy Domain Insane) for my free sites. Everything was good, but yesterday I had received a letter from support about limits for bandwidth of my site.

Unfortunately, the amount of traffic that [my site] is receiving was causing the Apache server to either slow down, hang, or crash depending on how many hits it was receiving at that time. Thus we are going to have to throttle the number of connections that your website can receive. A throttle is definitely the best option to still allow your site to function as well as ensuring the integrity of our service.
It's incomprehensible because I use less then 50% from declared parameters!
500GB of 2500GB in February

I've got the Code Monster plan at Dreamhost (5000GB a month). Back in September I had a pic gallery at The Hun that was getting huge traffic. I was notified by email that they throttled the site down to 100 connections per 10 sec. But there was so much traffic I couldn't even bring up a single page. I contacted support and told them they needed to remove the throttle. They immediately moved me to another server that had lighter loads. I haven't had a problem since then.

So if the server you're on can't handle the load, ask them to move you to another server.
