Good Tuesday Morning

Well, after a meeting with my funeral director yesterday about the huge price difference in the casket online and what I paid, he ended up giving me all his wholesale prices and said "figure out how much we should get paid, and we will live with it".

So, today I need to figure that out and pick out a headstone, at cost

They were surely not prepared to deal with a son that was also registered to sell caskets online. The factory actually gave me a price break that was larger than the funeral director's because they knew it was for my mom.

So, I have more meetings today and my son is doing very poorly because of his grief. We are off to the doctor today. My father is doing about the same as my son so, I am still staying with him.

There are other things I won't get into here but, thank you Greenie for taking care of things.

Good Morning Folks

Jim I was just about to start this thread when I checked the main board and saw you were here and when I came back to new topics...

Take your time and help your family as much as they need. Just pop in once in a while so I can harass ya.

I do try to be around as much as possible. But with my Father and Son taking this so badly, it is very hard. My son is staying with his mother away from some friends that I believe he doesn't need around at this time.

But my father stays in his and my mother's marital home and there is no way he is ready to stay there alone. Part of today is getting rid of anything that showed my mother being sick. Things like medicine, bed pans, wheel chairs and such.

I am going to be here more and more through out the week and let him gradually get used to being alone. He really needs something to do and is afraid to death that he will run out of money. He won't ever run out but he thinks he will so I suggested, getting into the business. He has been programming and doing computer and internet work since 1978. With him being involved in the computer and internet business since then, I think he could do very well.

A lot of people think the internet is fairly new but he was able to access it way back then. There wasn't much but he did have a connection and did work. He also setup all the networks for all the schools in the Utica City School district.

If I can get him to snap out of his depression and get to work, he is going to put us all under the table His home is already setup with a wireless cable connection and the people that really know me know, I have all the content he could ever use.

So, don't be surprised if one day you see a second Jim Barnett posting on this board

Good Morning

I've got an old friend staying with me since she broke up with her girlfriend so since she gets up real early for work I've been getting up with her and having coffee. It's nice having someone to wake up with, but fuck this is early.

Funerals… I come from a family that didn't believe in them. Average cost to die is about 400 including cremation and getting the deceased back in a small cardboard box. To each their own, but I don't understand the whole casket, cemetery, funeral thing.

Well my e-mail box is full of Winblows worms this morning. They don't do a thing to Mac OS X, but they are real annoying.

Fresh pressed coffee is now being served.

Morning everyone hope you have a good Tuesday, we are getting hit with all this snow here in Michigan.

Jim, my dad is getting into the business as well, he is looking to approve galleries and such (if anyone wants to hire him, you can probably get him fairly cheap..hahaha).

He just wants something to do instead of just sitting at home all day playing on the computer. I thought about giving him one of my sites, but well they are not making much at the moment..hahaha.

Anyway, Jim I think your dad should get into the business, if he can learn PHP, there is a huge demand for programmers at the moment and he could definitely keep himself busy.

Good luck to you guys Jim, hope everyone gets back to wearing a happy face again soon.

Andy

Aw, Dad, you've done a lot of great things, but you're a very old man, and old people are useless

Hi Jim,

My Dad has recently come out of a long period of severe depression. His was triggered by health related events.

A few years ago I gave my parents a dog, actually, forced it on them cause I had to get rid of her because our condominimum HOA were having a fit about our dog (she's a pit/boxer mix).

The only thing that got him out of the house was taking her out on walks. Each day she would go a little farther and farther, and she always knew when to turn around and start heading home. Over time she built up his weakend muscles and eventually he was able to go on 2+ mile walks.

Thanks to her, he is now getting back to work. In fact, a few weeks ago my Dad went to all of his elderly customers (he owns a gardening and landscaping business) and shoveled out their driveways from all the snow they got.

If it wasn't for his dog, he would surely still be depressed. I hope your Dad is able to find something for him to help get him thru this tough time. Sometimes strength comes from the places where you least expect it.

Best wishes,

Mike
