Repeating an image as background
I want to use a small image for a background and I know how to make it repeat but I want to have a space between the images across the page and then have the same spacing vertically for as long as the page is. How do I do that?

There must be an easier way...or not. But, why not put a border around the image and then use that as your background?

It's a small image, 120x60 and I want to have the page filled up with the images but not touching each other. Maybe 5 or 6 across the page with the same spacing between them vertically. I don't think a border will help with that.

I believe Jim was saying, just make the image a little larger with a border the color that you want the background.
If there is a way to put padding on a background image via css, I've never heard of it.

Well, I'm stuck. If I'm using an image in <body background=whatever....how do I put a border around the image?

Licker, if you have an image editing program, try adjusting the paper/canvas size of the image which will put an outline around the image. You should be able to make the background whatever color you want. Then save the new image as your background image.

I have IrfanView, I'll take a look and see if I can do something with that, thanks.

You can also make a new blank image the color you want the background and paste the old image into it. Either way should take less than a minute.
If you can't get it, just post a link to the image, the color you want the background/border, and how much blank space you want and I'll get it back to you. (I'll be here until 5-6pm then back later)

I finally got it with IrfanView. It has an option "Canvas Size" that lets you put in the amount of space around an image. Thanks to all for the suggestions.
