Free porn becoming an issue, soon people will look at skim-free TGP's that list ALL galleries as 'the good old days' when there was no free porn.

Rapidshare, megaupload, and similar places used by (sharing) blogs and -forums became a major headache to which nobody seems to do anything about. p2p and bittorrent is nothing compared to these..

Yes, exactly. P2p is much harder for people than these rapidshare places. I work forums sometimes and I see it. People who get the full movies don't even want the movie clips or galleries. To them they are almost worthless. They expect to get full movies, for free. And it is out there availible to them. Worse yet a lot of these places effectively advertise for places like rapidshare making them BIGGER. They charge $10 a month or so and these forums send them the customers left and right even putting it in their rules that people must post using these sites.

I'm surprised to not see some of the major sponsors going after these guys. If you hit three sites Rapidshare.de, rapidshare.com, and megaupload.com. You could create a major impact. If it isn't stopped, it will just get worse. The first time a surfer gets a full length movie from one of these places and then sees there are thousands more, it is all over. He isn't buying ever again unless you get him on some major rare fetish or such where there is no free full movie content.

The full movie content ( 50 MB - 300 MB) out there could easily mean the end of free sites and tgps....and maybe eventually the paysite. It should not be underestimated.

Agreed. Rapidshare is actually being chased by Germany's version of RIAA : http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?s...37230&from=rss (details here: http://www.heise.de/english/newsticker/news/83948 )

Fingers crossed

...look what I got (btw I don't work for natnet):

Hello,

Let me answer your questions one at a time...

Absolutely. Generally, when a client wants their member to have what we
call a "lifetime license," we will simply issue a license that is good for
100 years. We figure that will be long enough. ;-)

> 2. Can a I set such a DRM rule, so that a member will have access to
> the videos even after his monthly subscription has expired? (So, that

> My goal is simply to protect my video content from Rapidshare,

> members.

Yes. Once we issue a 100 year license, the video will no longer contact our
license server for instructions, so it does not matter if they are still a
member of your site or not.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'll be
happy to help in any way that I can.

Thanks,
Andrew

So, obviously there is a way to protect video content from being spread away at places like rapidshare, megaupload and the p2p and torrents. Affiliate programs CAN protect their content. And in the long term I think this will bring more sales for both affiliates and program owners. I think we loose a lot of potential customers because of all this P2p and rapidshare places.

Same here. What really upsets me about places like rapidshare more so than the normal p2p is that rapidshare is GROSSLY profiting from all this. I've seen the users in the forums and the pageviews. We're talking thousands of joins a day, mainly for porn.
