If you build freesites use a few of your outgoing links as links to your LL. My LL has been around a while but I still do that.

Internet! Is that thing still around?

One thing I would warn you about -- and I learned from experience -- is to decide upfront what quality of submission you want to accept. In the beginning I took anything on my link list just to beef up the inventory, but in the long run, I ended up with a lot of webmasters just grabbing some FHGs and adding a couple of recips at the top. The traffic will get tired of seeing the same FHGs they see everywhere. And if you decide down the road that you want to clean it up, you'll have a big job on your hands.
But the problem is that nobody wants to submit freesites to a link list that's new and trafficless. One of the things that I do is that I harvest links from other directories. I visit my favourite directory, then I start clicking links, if I like the freesite I paste it into my own interface, and then, I write my own title and description. (I do this last bit just so I don't piss anyone off.) It's a lot of work, but it'll populate your inventory with good freesites, and the webmasters owning the freesites will start to see you popping up in their traffic logs and start submitting to you with your recip.
