Since this thread has been resurrected I'll update my reply.
Along with the simple ripping protection built in to Strongbox, we now have
Throttlebox, a seperate system designed just to stop ripping and bandwidth hogs.
MY previous post said we were working on such a system. We worked on it for
a few years and just recently released it.

strongbox looks like just what we need too, but i have a question for raymor, how well would this integrate with our CMS (we use sitedepth 4)

I am sending a link for strongbox to sitedepth support too, to check on integration issues

Sitedepth and Strongbox work well together, and in fact I mention Sitedepth in my
stock CMS post when people ask about a good CMS. About three years ago there
was a small incompatibility regaridng the "Latest Updates" link in Sitedepth.
I discussed it with Mike from Sitedepth and we figured out a fix. They have
a file called strongbox.php that they can upload into the main Sitedepth folder
to cause Sitedepth to run in a fully Strongbox compatibile mode. That file MAY
not be needed anymore, as that was 3 years ago and I don't know if their current
version requires it.

We also have our own version of the patch that we can do, but their version may be
better. Also we can clean up any fully qualified URLs that you may have put in your
headers and footers.
