Hmmmm I'm looking into the ad automation too, possibly with SSI. My problem is with incorporating this in html files. The only way around it that I can see now is use folders structure, and have the files named index.shtml (or probably index.php).
Some photoshop automation is very helpful! I often like to work with square thumbs though, so I still do the actual crop by hand.
