Hiya
![]() First, that's really not a large file. Second, and more important, is the source of the file and what has been agreed to by the owners of the email addresses on the list. Is it an opt-in list, a double opt-in list, a list of subscribers to something, or a list of paysite members, or...? And are the people on it consumers, or webmasters, or something else? Does the list contain anything besides just the email addresses, like the name, the IP address of the person, and the date and time the person was added to the list..? I mention the date because some email lists go bad pretty quickly. We do a lot of mailings and it's not unusual to have 25% of a list change addresses or begin bouncing each year. Just so you know, even if it was an absolutely clean list of people who'd agreed in advance that their email addresses could be sold to others who'd be sending emails to them, a list of only around 1,000 addresses isn't going to be worth that much to anyone. I'm not posting this to rain on your parade, but more to let those with lists to sell know what kind of information they may want to be sure they have (and what information to include in a post). . |bat|

![]() thank you for your reply ![]() The list is a double opt-in list, the person goes to the website subsribes, apply's to the rules and need to go to his e-mail address to click a link, when that is done the person is subscribed. The people on my list are consumers and webmasters, the only thing I got is the e-mail address. But how much is a list worth with 10.000 email addresses, double opt-in, info in the database as: IP, subscribe date+time, e-mail address? |

With the list being a mix of consumers and webmasters, frankly I'm not sure what would be a good use for the list. And if the subscribers haven't agreed to allow their addresses to be sold to others who'll also be sending them email, that's another problem to deal with (for instance, does the email collection site have a Privacy Statement and what have the subscribers been promised in that statement). Just email addresses alone don't have much value today.
Regarding your new question about a list of 10,000 addresses, the same questions apply and the value would be based on all of the things I mentioned in my first post (and some other things). The age of the addresses have to be figured in, along with what the list has been used for in the past, what sales figures (if any) can be directly tracked to mailings done to the list, the permissions the email addresses owners have given and whether those permissions are transferrable, etc. Basically the addresses could be worth anything from $0.001/each (or even much less) to well into the hundreds of dollars per address. But most lists with that kind of higher value are rarely offered for sale. In general, unless the list is worth a lot to you, based on the sales it directly generates for you, don't expect it to be worth much to anyone else. . |bat|
