Im assuming that it came from a reply to UW's post in regards to what was said to him..thats what Im gathering.I know both D2222 ad Ben and I never have seen either one that adiment..I hope you guys can patch it up and move on. Would be a shame to have something like a simple qustion thread wreak havoc for too long.

Well you know boys, a nuclear reactor is a lot like women. You just have to read the manual and press the right button

I don't know what rage cash ben said or who it was directed to since I didn't read it before he edited it but when I posted on this thread yesterday I was just giving my two cents on listed free sites. Basically, I have been going by the idea that if your site gets listed why change anything on it. I personally haven't changed anything on my listed sites for fear that maybe altering things would cause the site to be pulled off the linklist. Woudn't it be better to just let it sit and collect hits. But something Useless said got me thinking that if programs and pay sites disappear and you have a bunch of old sites floating out there with some of those sponsers on them then that would be a situation where I would go back and alter things on the site like banners and maybe content. Or else you would have a bunch of old sites floating around out that for nothing. But since I'm still pretty new to the business I haven't had that experince yet so I don't change anything on a listed site. Maybe I'm wrong but thats just my opinion.

Yeah, good point... sometimes sponsors get dropped, and sometimes sponsors drop affiliates, and if you got sites out there.... |

No offence Apu, but when they were handing out religions you must have been out taking a whizz

For those who think you shouldn't change anything on a listed site, what happens when the sponsor you used:
Should we not change anything? Also what if someone wants to make positive changes? When I first started building sites I had limited knowledge of html and design, so I still have these ugly sites from years ago hanging around, for a webmaster in 2008 they are an embarrasment. I'll be changing them but not making any negative changes.

I think if worse came to worse and the Sponsor totally left the biz, etc..I think the only way to feesibly change things is to ask the LL owners to remove the links should they still be up and viewable. Much like many did with Teela's sites several weeks ago.

Maintained a spreadsheet since day one - wish I had done it in a database cuz it's getting a bit too large to be handy.
Only sponsor I've ever promoted is me so if I go belly-up, guess I'm really screwed. I did read somewhere that at least one LL uses a script like some of the TGP's to check for changes but I can't remember or find where that was. I have made changes to FS's when I had to - (like the ones I'm doing fixing that were submitted to "Richards Ream". Or one that the CSS was screwed up in IE. I've even added a few more recips to some of my early ones. |

I have kept a spreadsheet from day one and archive them when they get too long. I know all the links I have out there, what sponsor/site it is for and the date I submitted it.
I build, submit and forget. If I get declined because of easy to fix issues I make those changes. Otherwise, they just sit out there and the new sites get better with experience and practice. When you are submitting a site a day six days a week there is very little time to go back and fix old free sites anyways. |
