Whats the next step of blogging

Once the blog is created and there are posts made some links added. whats next?

Adult Directories?
Links trades - only a few a week?
Link List Submits?

I dont expect the holy grail of advice as I wouldn want to "take away" from anyone else - just a point in the right direction would be highly appreciated

That's a good question Jester. I've wondered that myself as I've just started getting into blogs.

What's social networking? That may be a silly question but I honestly don't know.

A few thoughts ...

The good and the bad of blogging is that you are primarily dependent on search engine traffic. When that it is good, it is very good and when it is bad (i.e. the Google Gods change their mind about your site), it is awful.

I think that it is important to differentiate your blog from splogs or near splogs by writing about your niche and the pornstars that are a part of it. I did this early on in my blog and it proved to be a success (though I've slacked off recently and I have suffered for it). If "Jane Doe" is a big star in your niche then get an interview with her or failing that do your own retrospective of her porn career. Request membership area access at pay sites where you have a track record and then write up a review of the site. I am sure all of us could come up with other ideas. I can tell you that when I did these things other sites linked to me (without even asking for a recip).

Also, as you have suggested it is good (and important) to look for alternative sources of traffic. I've been thinking of getting back into the free site game for a number of reasons. One of which is to feed my blog with some different traffic by using one of my outbound links on the freesite.

With a bit of work you can turn any blog into niche authority which I would think over time would lead to quality traffic (and hopefully sales).

I more thought. Perhaps you might want to start a collaborative blog where some of your trusted GG&J members write entries on each others' blog in order to get more more entries and more traffic. I don't know, I am throwing that one our there for anyone who wants to to comment.

How you say? That really kind of depends on what type of blog were talking about. If you've got a splog, whether its RSS feeds or just hand written sales text go with balls deep suggestions although I'd still burn my feed at feedburner and register at Technorati.

If your actually doing something more along the lines of a blog where although adult related it's more than just sales text then there are a number of options that are basicly different.

A number of the mainstream blog directories will accept adult from this category. Feedburner and Technorati are musts but you can also use many of the true social bookmark sites like delicious to get your posts listed.

Promote the shit out of your feed. I've got one blog that gets more hits to its feed per day than to it's main page.

They are hard to find but get your feed into as many RSS directories as you possibly can.

And read this thread, I think there are some good ideas as far as blogs as hubs and free sites.

There are basicly two different kinds of social bookmark sites. The real ones like delicious and digg where you can store your personal bookmarks, things you like. Which is why almost all bloggers use a social bookmark plug-in. To simplify doing such for the surfer.

For porn, there are also social bookmark sites similar to XXX Blog Index which either read your RSS feed (which I do) or allow daily submissions of your post URL instead of you main URL. Really they are more an RSS directory but what the hell.

They are good for a little bit of traffic but mostly it should get you good backlinks into your post page rather than just your index.
