Probably due to your anti-WP post the other day, I searched around for other blog programs. I found a really small one which is ideal for me since I don't need/want all those widgety plug-a-ma-doodles.

I started a wordpress blog specifically to see how it worked and test it on a new hosting platform and I must say, I am amazed at a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff that wordpress does. Wordpress SEO is pretty good, but, I can't get around the performance factor behind it. Not that my personal life is going to generate massive traffic, but, it sure prevents me from using it for other projects that do require the ability to handle traffic.

I'm still not decided against writing my own platform after I get my next project done.
