Of course it's bad. If your site is detected by google, it can be penalized, loose it's own PR, or even decrease in SE ranking... But in what way google finds out? i don't know.

If you're looking to do well with google never buy PR never buy links and dont buy into anything that promises google gold dust.
I did once and got spanked real hard for it. Time + good content + good link relations = Happy times |
