I'm certainly no expert but I'll throw in some sporadic thoughts...

I ran a quasi-general topic blog/hybrid adult site once. While I enjoyed it and I think people enjoyed reading it it sort of imploded on itself. I lost its focus. One day I'd be writing my editorials about Canadian politics and my hate on for celebrity, the next I was posting links to free hosted galleries and fawning over the model's amazing tits. Then, I wondered if I should just drop the titties and go the traditional advertising route. But the domain was clearly adult. So I dynamited the project and wiped it away.

Another problem I had was that I was constantly censoring myself. There were just words I didn't want on an adult web site (like names of video games) in case it started drawing in the wrong type of traffic (ie. people looking for video games, mainly non-adults.)

While I abandoned that idea I still use the blog format for adult web sites. I tend to stay on topic.

There are two types of adult blogs as far as I'm concerned: spam blogs and content blogs. The spam ones post a pic, a link to a sponsor, and some gibberish SEO text. They might bring in the SE hits but no one is bookmarking them.

Then there's the content blogs. They might have their own built in galleries, links to galleries, stories, interviews, whatever. I do believe people bookmark these sites. They should have a focus though and some well written text. Maybe some humor. And then maybe some political musings here and there.

I would recommend using Wordpress or some other blogging software if you want your blog to scale well in the future (if you anticipate it becoming a popular destination within your site.)

I find myself choosing the 'please everyone' option way to often.Actually my original idea for my site Dickheadshit.com was to be sort of a crazy loudmouth blog,post your silly pics,videos type of a site similar to to stile project etc.Over time it ended up as a 'mainstream' porn site hub.

Even though I'm happy with it,I feel I lost my vision and it lacks the smart ass,fuck you attitude that it should have if it weren't for my self censoring problems.Also,my personality translates into text horrible so I can end up sounding like a total piece of shit or just stupid by a casual reader if I'm not careful.
