Do you really mean content providers or are you referring to sponsors? Content providers, people who sell you content, would use a feed to notify registered clients when updates are available and other news that would pertain to the purchasing of content.

Sponsors provide feeds as a means of distributing their content either as a list of their latest FHG's or as blog posts. Many bloggers use sponsor feeds for blogging as I'm sure many TGP owners use the FHG feeds for updating their TGP

But there are numerous uses for both types of sponsor feeds outside of those above. You just need something to read them. Here are a couple choices:
RSS2HTML
Magpie
SimplePie

I use RSS2HTML a lot. FHG feeds work well in a blogs sidebar. Blog posts work well to jazz up static pages or blog pages.
