New threads need moderator approval?
I just made a tutorial style thread in programming forum and it said it had to be approved by a moderator before it would appear. Haven't come across this before, is this a new practice?

Due to the amount of spam posts, the board was configured with akismet. Since your post contained a number of urls (even though they were within code blocks), akismet tagged it for moderator approval. Usually it only takes a few minutes for one of the moderators to see it and approve or delete it.
So far, akismet has been reasonably accurate, but, in your case did cause some confusion. Nice tutorial.

How do you edit your own posts? I just spotted a typo in the script I posted.
