What about embeding videos? More importantly for me, what about mp4 videos? If this is an option, any chance of a mobile category?

I tested the embedded Flash movies from a couple of sponsors and they worked fine, but I have no idea what the results of embedding an mp4 would be. I wouldn't add a new blog category without knowing that it would receive posts (no one else has expressed interest) and that they'd be worth having.
