what interactive tools will keep members?

In my experience if you can reach a member personally they will stay a loyal member much longer then if they come into your site and feel sterilized. This is why personality based sites have such a high retention rate.
I am not sure what kind of site you are running but if you can connect with your surfer and let them know their is a real person behind the porn that is a good thing. Even if you run the site and use bought content bring your webmaster personality into play, of course if your a guy an alter ego female would be most beneficial. But have a journal/blog, have your picture on the first page when they enter and have a message that say " hi welcome to my site......." and chage it up once a week. Let them know what updates will be coming. "todays update is..., tomorrows is...., next week I have a special treat for you...." Give them something to look forward to.
Also if you rely on cam sources, purchase the content, don't take the free version with 1000 links out to every other site on the system.
Respond back to e-mails quickly and always be nice, even if they aren't. Some people are assholes just cause they have been treated badly by other webmasters but when you come back sweet they chill and get the problem resolved and remain members for a while.
