 For the build / submit / forget type of blogs you build, this is probably good advice but there are some bloggers who write more than 11 posts and call it a blog.
In my opinion, if your building a blog your going to add to on a continuing basis, a single sponsor is difficult.  Besides getting harder to write for, the blog itself tends to get stale.
If your building that type of blog, then you need a bit of variety.

 I think you probably misused the term here as I personally don't want any of my "google juice" going to the sponsor/site.  I want all that juice for myself.
I do want the "google love" I get going there.
