You really don't need a VPS for freesites. You can do them on a basic shared plan.

Check out Certified Hosting (aka Naked Hosting). They specialize in adult hosting. Shared plans are around $10. The "Geek" plan is pretty good. They have Semi-Dedicated plans starting at $40 if you want a VPS.

I've got shared hosting and a Dedicated Server with CertifiedHosting. A top mob. Never been any issues with their shared and I get a lot of traffic and use tons of disk space too. Very happy with them!
