Imagine you are sitting at a table with 30 other people, each of you with a bowl in front of you. In your bowl is a meat based meal, yet everyone else's bowl is empty.

Now instead, imagine that your bowl is full with a vegetarian meal, complete with all the nutrition your body requires. And so are the bowls of the other 30 people sitting at your table.

This is the difference between being vegetarian, and not. This is the difference between feeding your family, your friends, and every person in this world, or just feeding yourself.
