Freesite submitters are way way down, at least those that put an effort into them. Maybe this will boost the amount of submits since they will be just a bit easier to put together, plus they can submit them to all those lists that will accept a clean freesite without making duplicates, mirrors and such.

In the beginning this may only be a few lists but could turn into a lot in time. If a lot of lists are pointing to a freesite built with a good amount of text and minimal links out, limited to 4, then maybe freesites will start showing up in the se's creating more freesite sales.

Simply put, more freesite sales would make people WANT to build more freesites and better freesites.

I remember when linklists use to list a large amount of sites while rejecting a lot every day. Who knows, maybe it could return back to that.

The worst thing that could happen is your list does no better in the engines but you at least have more listing for the surfers you do have. This keeps them on your site longer and makes them happier and a happy surfer comes back another day.

Just a thought and feel free to think it's foolish.

That's interesting, and freesites without the big blob of recips do look better. I am not sure if recips have all that much value these days. I get a few clicks from people that click on the links, but that's about it.

that is a good idea.

Some kind of agreement about linking patterns might be the best compromise - giving a link from the index page of a freesite domain plus some links in some other ways, in exchange for the subbing of no recip freessites.

the absolute predictibility and artificiality of the standard freesite linking pattern has been death for SE credibility for years and years now - yet, we never change.

I have suggested stuff like this before, but we have been mired in fears and habits and no-longer-functional rules.

jesus, I am so fucking glad that people are finally beginning to start thinking like this.

Here's the numbers for link-o-rama.com as far as Traffic Sources:
36.55% Search Traffic
37.02% Referral Traffic
23.47% Direct Traffic
2.97% Campaigns (???)

Seeing as Referral Traffic refers to all the links to my site on other people's sites/pages, I have to assume a lot of those come from recip links on submitted sites, especially since I really have no mega trades set up.
