Wednesday April 27th (aka It Wasn't Yesterday)

Been a hospital week for me:

Monday eye surgery. They keep telling me "next time will be the last you need." Then the next time they say "Just a little bit more to do, so I'm afraid you will need another appointment, but that will be the last." It has been going on like that for a couple of years. I've finally come to the conclusion that they are deliberately lying to me because they know how much I hate the eye surgery and are afraid I might choose to go blind rather than endure the entire course if I knew in advance how long it would be, so they keep pretending that the next will be the last.

Tuesday I was supposed to see the consultant about my knackered kidneys, but there was a strike on by the junior doctors, so the consultants had to fill in in case of emergency, and my appointment got postponed.

Today I got a letter telling me to come to an "information" evening in case I win the spare parts lottery, and someone has the kindness to drop dead when there is no one younger or more deserving than me on the list of people who need to recycle the dead persons inside bits. I'm not over optimistic, I'm old enough, and spare parts are rare enough, that I am unlikely to be the "most deserving person" anytime between now and death.

And on "non hospital news", things are even less cheerful. I got told something today by a friend that I will probably post about tomorrow. But not tonight, I am still too upset to talk about it.
