Mouseovers (not blind) = better click thru rate ?

I seem to notice click thru rate about 300% + higher when using mouseovers on sponsor links (making it look like the link just goes to the root domain). Especially with those which look obvious - such as ccbill affiliate codes/urls.

Does anyone else see this?

Also when a sponsor uses affiliates codes in the form of:

http://rootdomainname.com/myaffiliatecode/

The difference is drastic.

Why do more sponsors not make use of this?

Yes I like to put mouseovers as much as I can.

Surfers like to have an idea of where they are going and removing the affiliate, especially with CCBill, looks more inviting.

You would be surprised by the number of TGP's that have "no mouseovers" in their rules that will accept them if they are done correctly.

Yeah, I've been doing this for years. I'm always shocked when I'm surfing and right click to see what th real url is and find that it WAS the real URL. Always nice seeing someone else promote their own paysite. When I'm sending galleries and free sites out that promote my www.amateurupskirts.com I'm sure the webmaster is right clicking to make sure I haven't broken the rules.... Nope, it's me, it's me!

The affiliate codes may subliminally scare surfers. If it says:

http://www.iamgoingtothisdomain.com

And you are going to that domain - then it's not a blind link. It is being better than:

http://www.iamgoingtothisdomain.com/...p-up-hell.html

Though I have no numbers to back that up.

I'm with Jay - that's pretty much the reason I started to legitimately use the mouseovers - I have to assume that most surfers would rather click on:

http://www.amateursite.com/

instead of
