Thursday, 16th - Icy as hell -

Good day

Today, it is dangerous to walk to the garage. (I survived)

We spent all day yesterday packing the stepdaughter's apartment.
A sorrowful day.

Today I'm off, I even skipped the gym, just to get the feeling of a Day Off.

Update TGP, then Walking Dead and some guitar practice.

Take care

Good Morning

Just the usual around here though fires are still burning. At least our air quality has been much better with winds keeping ash away recently.

Enjoy your day!

Glad you are safe and have better air to breathe.

Saw an interview with an ex Wall Street broker. A big guy. Have you seen it?

He said there is no question this was planned. What do you think about it?

Uh, absolutely NOT planned. Yes, there are fires every single year especially when the Santa Ana winds are blowing. What made this bad was the lack of rain, the high winds, and the extremely dry brush. None of that is planned, trust me. Some were saying the fire department didn't deploy like they usually do, but my response is where should they have deployed? Have any of these people looked at a map? The Palisades fire is roughly about the size of Manhattan, or half the size of London. So you deploy everyone there, and what about the Eaton fire about 45 miles (72 km) away. Oh, and the Hurst fire about the same distance away at the north end of the San Fernando Valley. The Sunset fire was about half way between the Palisades and Eaton firest. And don't forget about the Kenneth fire on the San Fernando side, close to the Palisades.

It used to be that there was a fire season from about August until the winter rains started -- October/November. Once the dry Santa Anas started, you knew you were going to have a wildfire somewhere. As Governor Newsom said, now you don't have a normal fire season anymore. You NEVER see events like this in January. I was born there, and lived in the area for 50 years. This caught me totally off guard. I am still stunned. To have someone say this was planned is just incredible. It really adds insult to the injury we all feel.

Pagan covered a lot.

We hear it started in a residential neighborhood so the only planning would probably be somebody trying to torch their house for insurance. After that there was just a perfect storm because of the winds. I believe the fire department might of been overwhelmed without the winds but we'll never know.
