In my case, GoDaddy got a report of some spam I didn't do and want proof that what I didn't do was OK, otherwise they want $199 to show my commitment to resolving the 'problem'.

Basically, if you see any competitor who has a site registered with GoDaddy all you need to do is spam in the name of your competitor then go report it to abuse@godaddy.com.

It may take a week or a month, but eventually they will send the owner an e-mail trying to extort proof whatever it was that was in your domain name wasn't spam or authorize them to charge you $199 non refundable off your credit card.

Failure to prove it's not spam or failure to send money will result in suspended service.

When I asked them how I could possibly stop anyone from purposely spamming to make my domain look bad, they didn't address that in any way.

Instead, they are holding 1 of my domains hostage and there is NO way I'd stay with them after that.

So, check the WHOIS on those sites you compete with.

Look at GoDaddy's broad definition of SPAM and make up something then report it. They'll need to pay $199 per incident or their domains will stop working.

Cool, huh?
