Can I get by on free content?

Have a domain and new hosting plan to start pumping out free sites.

Was wondering if I could get by on free content for a while?

I guess a better question is:

If I snatch up the very latest free content from sponsors is there a good chance most LL's will be OK with that?

How quickly does free content become saturated and you all stop accepting sites with oversaturated content?

I have about 1k in content, but it's pretty old and saturated with a few exceptions.

I'd like to stick with free content initially, so if I pick up the latest released content in say the first few day and submit within the 1st week the content is released is there a good chance LL's will list if all else is OK with the site?

As I go through sponsors what dates should I consider as 'stale' from the more popular sponsors?

Thanks.

The rue of thumb on free content is that it's already over used within the first day or two of being released.

Same thing with these cheap content sets. They are used up in a few days to a week.

You have to remember if the surfer has seen your content before then they have probably visited your sponsor too.

Little bit spammy there, dude.

But- I plan to stick with free content for a little while and primarily pics, not vids.

I registered with you anyways. It would be good if you dated your material in the near future.

So, basically for the bigger sponsors unless I get the new free content, build a good acceptable galery and submit within the first 48hrs it's released, it could be a waste of time?

I understand the gist of what you're saying, Surfn. I try to reinvest the income I get back into projects.

But i keep thinking about what bill once stated and what MML said on a radio show.

bill stated if you can keep costs down initially on a project then that's best.

MML mentioned on a radio show you don't want people to actually get to your content...you want them to click the link and buy a membership.

I'll try to use less saturated sponsors as much as possible.

After I get into a free site builder groove maybe I can get agressive and monitor the more popular sponsors like a hawk.

What surfing said about all the bigger sponsors, but some of the much smaller sponsors or the personal websites have content that is not overused instantly.

And wwc-mahoney you are a fucking spamming idiot.

well, you might also consider the new 2257 requirements when deciding wheather to use sponsor content or not... i doubt they are going to give you the documentation you need to be legal in the future so why not just get it done the right way from the get go?

Yeah. A lot of people use matrix and cloud 9, jokersx.

I guess I'll surf the LL's and see what is in the NEW category to get a feel for what people are submitting and what gets accepted.

I made this mistake though now I ask sponsors for content or try and find smaller sponsors which are no overly used.

to be honest Iread an artical last night and there was a valid point, you have to spend a little money to get going.

You can get a boat load of images for little money and it has to be worth the investment, some LL will cheap packs for sale u can use also.

just my 2 bits worth

Yeah. I get it. Only, I did spend a grand a while ago on content.

Get this- from what I had I probably woulda gotten some good free sites out of the lesser known stuff.

But since I lost my system I only have a backup of all the content with a domain stamped on it.

Fuck me. Only orig content I have on CD without a domain stamp is from Matrix and that's all saturated.

Live and learn the hard way.

I'll start with less saturated sponsors and reinvest in getting new content...and burning it to CD as soon as I get it.
