Submitted to GG and not listed

Okay, I'm gonna bite the bullet here and cover my eyes while I'm doing it. I submitted my site to GG twice this week and it's not listed. Interestingly enough, it did get listed on DD. Would you be so kind as to take a look and give me a clue? I can't keep this bullet in my mouth forever, I have nasty stories to write...

I'll hazard a guess... you have a counter which says "enter" in between your enter and exit links...

You have four counters - what are you hoping to achieve by this?

You should also be aware that extreme-dm are not an adult counter and wish to have nothing to do with us smut merchants...

Wazza - Huh. Thanks for pointing out the four counters (I didn't look at it that way), truly. And I'm aware extreme-dm doesn't like us smutters, but a few years ago it worked in a pinch. Funny thing is, I've been thinking of dropping it and you've given me incentive. Also, thanks for pointing out the counter between the Enter and Exit buttons. I need someone like you to point out these things. Really. Any other comments, please email me, I'm always interested in what someone else thinks.

You might also find it harder to get a "personal" non-commercial site listed on more commercial oriented link sites. You might also find that your erotic stories friends (like asstr group) won't link up with you if you deal with the nasty people in the commercial world (us bastards over here!). I operate a number of stories link sites, and I rarely if every get submits from personal sites.

I find this intriguing. I don't feel the asstr group are my pals by any means. We have erotic stories in common and it ends there. I don't look to them for link exchanges, I rather prefer "you bastards" but only quality "bastards" at that. Although you ARE commercial and I'm not, I strongly believe that your traffic (i.e., folks like me) want to see original content as well (i.e., sites like mine). And BTW, I looked at your site too and liked it; I'll be submitting

(I am intrigued by your comments. It feels like a challenge!)

Maxie, not a challenge, just something that comes from years of experience in the stories marketplace. The mention of "your erotic stories friends" is based on who you are linked to, including annejet, groups which are major supporters in traffic and content for ASSTR.

I will say that your site is one of the first I have ever seen in the "vanity" category that actually follows linkback rules, contains legal content, and has stable hosting. I have had alot of submissions from other pair.com sites that don't want to link me anywhere except on a friends page, contain stories that feature children (canadian law defines this as kiddy porn), etc.

As for ASSTR, just two things: it sucks when someone is giving away for free what you are attempting to sell, and it sucks when someone builds their business on stolen computer services (ASSTR was for years "hosted" on a university network without their knowledge, a PC in a dorm room) - at a time when people like me are paying major dollars for bandwidth and such. Single handedly they have talked many authors out of selling their stories for web use, instead encouraging them to post them to free to the newsgroups so they can be indexed into asstr's archive.

"Ray del sexo" was really pissed off when I pointed out the connectivity issue to the university... I think he had the server taken down, lost his computer access, and I think he might have even been removed from the school.

Your site in and off itself is quite good, and I wouldn't decline it... I just find it interesting considering that you have no commercial aspirations with the site.

There is only one "free" site I link to and that's simply because, like Anne, she and I go back to the days of Adriana's active story list. Otherwise, I will not link to free sites and I tell folks this when they ask for a link exchange.

I do follow link back rules because it's everybody scratching everyone else's back. I'm here for a hobby, if you will, and I just have fun. I like seeing what others are doing.

As for the commercial aspect, I've thought about it many many times and still do. What holds me back are the volumes of CJ sites out there, all the frickin' FPA's, not to mention pop-ups and banner farms. I also wouldn't know where to begin and I don't think I'm interested in a member's area (not immediately anyway). Quality is a big issue for me, I need to be able to stand out in a crowd.

So unless you, or someone you know, are interested in mentoring me, I'm content rocking your commercial world as a "personal vanity site that follows the rules."

This forum is a wonderful help, and I'll be back.
