Every mexican food place I tried in Chicago was to that cuisine as a frozen cardboard pizza from 7-11 is to a fully loaded Chicago deep dish. But then, I grew up in Texas, so I was spoiled with good mexican food all over the place.

This is a really good opportunity to talk about mexican food. See I have never had mexican in Texas that was anything I have had in Los Angeles or New Mexico, Kansas or Chicago for that matter. Each area has a certain style of food. To say you haven't found anything like you've had in Texas is understandable, but there is definatly kick ass Mexican there. A general rule of thumb for me is, if you can find chicharonnes you are sure to be able to find some kick ass food somewhere!
