Happy Beer Day Thursday
Good morning
![]() Today is Thursday, friends and I usually go for a few pints ![]() ![]() Not much new here. Just been working a lot. Doing SFW tours due to age verification. Doing the usual site updates, etc. Nothing really new. For those not aware, I am now in my late 50s and am looking at spending time, starting this coming winter, at work-retirement. What is work retirement? Good question ![]() ![]() ![]() Areas I want to visit: Portugal - Algarve area. Love this area and there's TONS of ![]() Dominican Republic - Cabarete/Sosua area and Punta Cana Arizona - close enough to our daughter in Los Angeles, and close to Las Vegas For you European people here, where else in Europe should we go? I am thinking Ireland for 2 weeks before going to Portugal for 2 months Also thinking Amsterdam, same as above. 2 weeks then down south Croatia? Easy to take trips to Athens and Rome. Where else? |

I am a bit partial here... spending a week or two in the Nordic capitals is a great idea. Pretty, clean, and you can get by nicely in English. Jolly can help more with Oslo. Stockholm is quite lovely. Of course, Helsinki is neat, but I like Turku better. (Take a ferry from Stockholm). Great golf course right there in Turku, plus quite a few good courses throughout the country. Haven't done Copenhagen yet, but I hear it is also worthy of a visit. Even our winters are a lot more mild than Canada. Then head south...

I think Norway and Sweden are on the list of places I want to go! It would need to be in the summer though, right? It's cold in the winter. I am not against the winter though if we go visit for 7-10 days.

Summer is of course, nicer but it is rarely uncomfortable in the southern parts of the countries. Spring is great. Fall is usually colder and rainy. Not sure if you have done the Midnight Sun thing, but very few things beat Midsummer weekend in the Nordics. (Cold to a Californian who lived in Central Texas? I am not fond of anything below freezing or above about 20C. I do have a winter coat, but I think I only wore it 2 or 3 times this last winter.)

![]() If you hit the spot in the summer, it's awesome, weather and temperature-wise. But you might, of course, be unlucky. There are tons of scenic places you should see, though. Towns like Bergen, Stavanger, Oslo and Trondheim. The towns down in my area are beautiful too. Sweden is the same, but I am biased ![]() Nothing new here either. Working on getting back to the groove, after some serious server shit. Have a nice weekend ![]() |
