Collecting biz opinions about windows XP service pack 3
So - windows wants to make me take service pack 3 - but for the moment I've declined.
Anybody have SP3 praise or hate to share? Anybody have their software buggered by sp3? Anybody think it's great? |

I have been using SP3 since July when I replaced some burned PC components and I have experienced no problems.
A relative that uses PS has told me that PS has been shitting on her after using it for a couple of hours though. I use PhotoImpact instead and no errors has occurred to me yet. |

I'd still back up though just in case. Also from reading it is a good idea to disable any ant-virus, spyware, or other such utilities when upgrading. Apparently there have been registry corruption issues in some cases with SP3. Afterwards, of course, they can be re-enabled. |

For some reason I didn't get the auto-update notice until late last week. I went ahead and installed it, no problems so far.

Thanks for posting the question Bill.. I haven't updated for the usual reasons.. but I might give it a try now.. Seems like the possible bugs have been ironed out..

I did just notice one thing - and I have no idea if it was there before or not - but I now have an option to run IE with no add ons

I hate XP SP3 for the simple reason that it took away my bottom taskbar address bar. I didn't have a choice in downloading it... my pc just downloaded it on its own about 2 weeks ago. I suppose there's some setting somewhere that I could change so my computer doesn't do auto updates but hell if I can figure it out.
