Ok ok so I might very well be one of the biggest nerds on the face of the planet. Well, come to think of it, the NY Times actually once referred to me as "one of the biggest nerds on the face on the planet". But at least they didn't call me "Lanky" like CBS News did. That was just bad, no one wants to be called "Lanky".

ANYWAY, back to my glowing orb.

I've had the "ambient orb" for a while now, and usually use it to keep track of my local weather. However, I found a really cool new use for it today.

Now that we have our affiliate program set up, I've found that I like to shoot off a personalized e-mail to all of the new affiliates as they sign up. Hey, how are you, need help with anything, I checked out your sites, etc.

In comes the Ambient Orb!

They actually let you program your own interface to it. So now, when a new affiliate signs up, the Ambient Orb blinks wildly a multitude of different colors. So, I can tell that I need to go in and send off yet another friendly little e-mail.

At first I figured hey, yet another little novelty around the office. But to be honest with you, it's been REALLY useful!

I tried to take a look at your site.

But, I surf with high security, and I don't ordinarily view flash or allow activex.

Because I don't, I can't even look at your product. This is a pretty well known design issue by now- there's never a good reason to design a sponsor site without at least a bit of html navigation to use if the flash doesn't play.

You are absolutely right, and this was a major oversight on our part.

The site has been updated now to detect if you have javascript and/or flash enabled. If not, you will see full navigation in the form of images instead of flash.

JavaScript will need to be enabled to generate proper linking codes, but a warning has been added prompting users to do so when necessary.

We just launched AlleyBucks this week. At the time of this post, it's still one of the top stories over at Ynot and AVNOnline.

BoyAlley has been around for a few months now without being open to affiliates. It gave us time to do testing on the tour and on the member's area, to make sure that we converted well, and retained well, before we started asking other people to promote it. We have both nailed down!

So AlleyBucks.com is nice and fresh (perfect time to get webmaster referrals), and BoyAlley.com's nice and fresh (great time to be promoting it)!
