The etiquette of TGP sites and traffic trades
Would a webmaster run a traffic trading script (scripts like CJOverkill) on a TGP site where he accepts submits? Or would the 'good guy webmaster' not do both at the same site?
Being completely a newbie with the world of traffic trades, I wanted to hear from you experienced guys on what is the proper "good guy" etiquette of conducting traffic trades on my TGP sites. Now for clarity on terminology, I mean traffic trading as opposed to say just trading links, recipts or only exit traffic. SO what's your view on that? Harry |

It is quite common to use trade scripts on TGP sites. You can go "old school" and only exchange hard link trades and rely on bookmarkers and SE traffic, but you'd better be prepared for it to take a couple of years to slowly build up traffic.

Etiquette...follow the trade rules of the site you're trading with and make sure you're both copasetic with the amount to skim, etc. (most trades request between 60%-70% as the maximum skim set on the trade script) Old school TGP's use hardlinks or hardlinks put throughout the gallery listings (takes a lot longer to build traffic). Circle Jerks pretty much sets the skim to just jerk people around (build traffic quickly but it's crap).
Personally I decided to use a progressive skim. The first 60 or so galleries are 0% and I have hardlinks...so everything goes to the galleries. The bottom of the page is set at a very modest 70% to galleries - 30% to trades (but I don't trade that much so the actual skim is at around 85% to galleries and 15% to trades)...on the archive page it can go a little higher. It's a fine balancing act between growth and quality of traffic. |

Skim/Scrape = 0%
It's your managed web site, it's your hard earned traffic, we don't steal it. We would like to share traffic though. The final decision is in the consumer's hand. You are free to post your site here. Use the 'Post your website' link. No bullshit rules, we don't tell you how to design your site, or how big the image files can be, or how often to post, or not to use 'blind links' or 'target_new' or pop-ups or consoles. It's YOUR site, do what you please, if consumers don't like your style or marketing methods, OH WELL ! The window shoppers will leave, you'll have no buyers, your site will fail. That's up to you. Be sure to contact us when you want to sell your domain name next year. Our sites are built on solid SE traffic which does produce long term returning traffic and residual income. NOT 'flash-in-the-pan' link list 'hit-and-miss' traffic. We build content refreshed sticky sites that bring return visitors. We do check recip/cross-links on a regular basis. Post your website at www.grrl-toys.com |
