.net as opposed to .com
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about registering a .net domain rather than a .com domain. Does it make a difference? I can underdtand that its a natural traffic leak to the .com version but other than that is there a real drawback?
Thanks for any feedback J- ![]()

The idea of traffic leaks has some merit but that can work both ways. Say someone had built up furrywigits.com to get millions of hits per day - and you just happened to start furrywidgits.net selling a similar product, chances are you would get more traffic leaked to you that the other way around.
For me, the real problem here is if furrywigits.com sells chi1drens toys and you plan on selling adult toys on furrywigits.net |badidea| Other that that, .com always trumps .net in my experience. |

yes I agree with that much like the old whitehouse.com vs .gov scenario...but if the name were adult related is there a real difference?
Like if I owned hairyblackbeaverpics.net it wouldnt really matter or affect the .com version of hairyblackbeaverpics.com..unless of course it was a mail order business out of Oregon who just happen to special in Black Beaver Images. J-

For me generally I really tend to like having the .com of an address and .net. About the only time I think I would get the .net and not have the .com is if it was a .net of something that has a paysite at .com. I don't have any of those, but I have known people that have done well just with that and basically putting up a fpa of that site with a link to the tour with their ref code.
