a few years back, I joked about buying a Russian Juliette Class Sub that was parked in St. Petersburg, FL. They were asking $950k. Our city bid on it and were going to build a tourist trap^H^H^H^H venue. The other company ended up selling it for $2 million to the film company that filmed K19. I believe they have since donated it to a town as a museum. I had a friend in the film business years ago that owns about 20 '30s cars that rents them to studios -- he spent most of his time juggling the cars around on the LA street where he lived.
![]() If you look hard enough, there are several Whiskey Class diesel submarines in the $200k+ range that are navagable. 12-15000 mile range, sleeping quarters for 56, 31000 gallon/120000 liter fuel capacity. Spousal unit gave me a financial goal and if I met it, I could buy one. Although she declined to ever go in it while it was under way.
