I may head up to the local college today to get more information about their 4 year degree programs since I'm beginning to realize that I'll eventually need to begin some sort of career and prefer that it doesn't involve a shovel or wearing steel toe boots. My wife told me that I'm having a mid-life crisis though she agrees that it's an excellent idea. It occurred to me that I have a daughter who will be starting college in just over four years, then a son who will follow her four years later. They are both very bright and I don't want them to start off in the hole, not being able to go at all, or suffering the same fate as their father; sitting here wondering why I stopped after getting an associates degree in the highly lucrative field of Liberal Arts.
![]() My biggest problem is that at 38 years-old nothing really stands out as THE career or field of study for me. I've jabbered about teaching for years, and that does have a modicum of appeal to me, but I wouldn't say that I'm jumping for joy at the prospect of it. Also, it's far easier to get a teaching job in math or science, but those are two areas that I wish to avoid. Who ever says that you'll know what you want to do when you grow up is full of shit. Oh, good morning. ![]()
