Am I doing anything wrong????

a few options that would work are

a: build free sites that promote you site and submit them (as was already said)

b: make a seperate entrance/warning page to put recips on and submit that to link lists (maybe a folder like /warning/ so that it is still an index page which a lot of list require their recips to be on

c: get an affiliate program, most places will list you recip free if they can signup and get a piece of the action
