Safety Advice.

OK, I am all for products listing safety warnings, it keeps the terminally stupid from harming themselves and the terminally greedy from suing, but I think this is a bit much:

I just got back from my local supermarket, and looking at one product the warning on the bag told you that you should only handle the contents when wearing gloves AND wash your hands afterwards (even though you were wearing gloves). It then gave a long list of bad things that could happen to you if you ignored this advice. And the product that was so dangerous that it can only be handled with gloves, and even then only if you wash your hands after removing the gloves? It was a bag of fresh chili peppers !!!!

mmm...Red Hot Chili Peppers hehe

well, I hear they can burn you if you handle them, cooking with them makes them loose some potency. |hotjump|

Pretty funny tho to have all that warning on FOOD I guess there could be a lawsuit there lol

Chop a bunch for a batch of chili. Wash your hands pretty well and then take a piss. You'll know why they suggest wearing gloves. Luckily it was my buddy that screwed up. I didn't actually burn myself but I could feel his pain.

My mother works with a guy that made the mistake of wiping his eyes after handling one of those really hot peppers. A trip to the hospital later......................

I love Thai dragons, but I know to always use latex gloves. If you've ever stuck your fingers in your twat the same day as cutting up peppers, you'll learn to never do it again.

Not that I actually have a twat, but I absolutely agree that it's a great way to learn, or teach, a lesson.

In fact, as a few people around here know, I'm sure, chilli peppers are used in bdsm as what we call "chemical fire" or "chemical play," which usually involves applying an irritant substance to a sensitive area (mucous membranes such as rectums and vaginas are popular places).

Chillis are grouped with citrus fruits, menthol oil, clove oil, capsicum drivatives, cinnamon oil, and Tiger Balm and Ben Gay. We group those together because they're oil-based and have no safeword. |hotjump|

For anyone who does want to try some sensation play with chemical fire, I advise using something water-based, so you can end the fire quickly if you need to. Menthol toothpaste is a good start. Wasabi, the Japanese horseradish, is safe, since it washes off immediately with water too.

Be sure to check for allergic reactions before using anything on a sensitive area.

P.S. Well, okay, I do have a twat, but it's attached to someone else's body.

Thanks for that bit of enlightenment Simon!! I learned something today!

On another note, I remember reading somewhere a warning about handling orange peels, and to wash your hands very well afterwards, because apparrently the citrus oil in the peels can cause skin damage if it's on your skin and you're exposed to sunlight.
