Here's what we currently use
http://www.micfo.com/webhosting.html We have their MG special but upgraded to get 5 gb of space and 170 gb of bandwidth per month. We've spent about $400 for a 3 yr package that started in the summer of '05. Will need a package that totals aproximately 30 domains. Around 20 paysites, a few tgp's, a few storefronts for toystores and vod's. Finally affiliate programs and corporate stuff should add up pretty quickly to about 30 domains total. Virtual is what we will prolly need for a while. Will begin negotiations to opt out of the contract with them and beginning anew in Feb 1. We will pay for any service that is fast, doesnt go down, has all the buttons and whistles we need and a tech support staff that actually answers their phone. These guys dont and subsequently they have lost my business.

Wow Bobby...that sounds like a whole buttload to stuff into a virtual account...especially to expect a high degree of reliability. For the kind of resources you're talking about...you really should consider going to a dedicated box.
The downside to virtual hosting is you're sharing that machines resources with every other virtual account hosted on it. From what you describe, I don't think there's any way you're going to be able to share resources with a lot of others folks on the same server. |
