It has nothing to do with cheating.

Let's say you've build a hundred of free sites and submitted them all to the linklist and linked like http://www.porn.com/index.html

Easy, put in the SSI and enable SSI to parse .html files.

If you rename your .html files to .shtml files you're going to have to resubmit all your site...
