ARS w-9 lockout

Mine was locked down a few days ago. I got mine released within a few hours. Luna came over last night so that we could fax hers from my house since she didn't own a scanner or fax machine.

I went out a bought a $39 Cannon scanner earlier this year just so that I could fax stuff from my computer.

Did they send out notices or anything letting us know that they needed a W9 form?

I thought it was a bit strange since they have had my tax ID on file for many years, but I guess they had their reasons.

I know that the government has gotten pretty strict about having signed copies on file. I had to get signed W9 and resale tax exempt papers from everyone last year in order to keep my CPA happy.
