I see blogging as part of "Web 2.0" so I believe that "Porn Web 2.0" is already started with porn blogs. Surfers habits change, they expect more from Web, they expect quality for free.

Most successful Web 2.0 projects are the ones who started first. Digg, Wikipedia, Myspace,...

On line porn industry was a long time leader in web tech innovation. Today I believe we are slow compared to mainstream. Actually, we are going at the same speed and mainstream is in turbo mode.

So Youtube is actually worth 1.65B with NO ad model in place? There has to be a pay model in place unless you want to spend millions in bandwidth every month for charity.

Currently, there's no real major hurdles to overcome for a standard desktop user. Bandwidth is cheaper, encoding vids is mainstream and optomizing pics is standard.
A lot is being done on the mobile end for adult, it's just the Wall Street Journal doesn't seem to report that much.

Johnny - Didn't mean to pick your post apart, but your reply was basically what I was looking for.

So a simple blog about a normal (me being normal hasn't been proven) guy working in the adult world, that does NOT splog unless something cool comes along, should be worth it down the road? (Like Cleos - though I'm a guy)
Maybe that should have been the original question.

I don't think a personal journal by a webmaster is the way to go for most of us because our lives are really boring.
If there's a Micro Niche that really turns your crank I would concentrate on that, something Unique.
Or maybe something like a coaching blog or a single father’s blog
But then I thought Plateman was crazy when he started his link list because I thought he would never catch up to the big boys and just look at all the link lists that have been started sense.
Just my two cents and it's probably only worth a penny

Thanks T Pat!
singlefathercoach.com is me.
Obviously mainstream, this will take a bit of time as I have other projects to get running, but I'm fairly certain I can make maybe a few cents a day in the big bad mainstream world too. (probably actually using the adsense built in for WP)
We'll see.

And yeah, I know we're a boring lot.
But I do believe I can do some good for other coaches and/or single dads.

I think the fact that I need to really think hard to remember when TGPs surfaced is one of main problems here.

It's been so long ago and really nothing changed since then. We take new tools like blogs and turn them into TGP clones. Worse yet we turned them into pic post clones. It's hard to think of anything new when all you need to do is put up some tits and asses. What else can we do then put pics and vids and occasional story?

Since I'm hardly an expert on Web 2.0 I tend to look at all this more as a surfer then a webmaster. I'm not even sure all these new trends are for real. Only thing I'm sure of is that I really enjoy all free quality mainstream sites that I've mentioned in my previous post.

Dareutwo, please rip my posts apart whenever you feel like it. I enjoy good discussion!

If you want really successful adult blog, there is a lot of hard work ahead.

One problem, for male bloggers specifically, is that our target audience is mostly men.

Female bloggers can charm male readers into daily visits, and can talk about a whole lot of things: their innermost feelings, what they did with their bfs last night, what shoes they want for christmas, etc. Male bloggers don't have that inclination or the luxury, unless we're running a gay blog.

Hmm what do you consider a splog? Is it a copied blog? When you say the quality blogs will last what do you consider a quality blog? My blog posts are true tidbits about my life, boring to most I am sure. I hate to think I am wasting my time. Well even if I am, I will keep at it, having to much fun doing it

Basicly, I consider it a splog if it has no redeeming value or contains all sales text.

Blogs like yours are great because while your still selling porn, there is some added value...a slice of your life.

I consider it a blog if it has a value beyond that of trying to simply sell porn.

In the adult world and thats the major problem. You dont get much free in mainstream.

As with anything, blogs that are interesting and entertaining, giving people reasons to come back or talk about it. Blogs that can stand on their own without SE help, though they will get SE help because they are good. SE's will apply the same rules to blogs as they do for anything else they send traffic to.

On the other hand, surfers, and webmasters for that matter, can be anyone they want to be, one of it's beauties, no one really knows you, so you are boring only if you want to be..
