How to read Alexa rating?

i'm in this biz for a few years now and i also still do not know how to read it exactly. the only thing i know is the lower the number the better like JackDaniel said. But anyway, it's not very crucial to know about to succeed online.

My Alexa rating went up from 7.5 millionth to 3.25 millionth. If I get three friends to install Alexa, I can probably go to under one millionth. None of which is enough to impress the wife.... she says a Hermes bag will do nicely though.
