"I'm not sure if a main domain with subdomain's or a main domain with categories is the best way to go." T Pat...I think it is kind of like the difference of having one big website or lots of small ones. The subdomains shouldbe viewed by the SEs as separate websites whereas with subdirectories it should appears as one big deep site. I would be very interested to know what your results are between the two methods...
