To All the Brits and Aussies out there

I saw a rerun of this year's Celebrity Apprentice (the one with Cyndi Lauper) and in this episode, Brit matriarch Sharon Osbourne had a certain dislike for Aussie chef Curtis Stone. It wan't because Curtis was being an asshole to him, but Sharon thought he has this certain "swagger" that turned her off.

This then reminded me of something happened to me months prior. I had an Australian cousin who visited us in San Francisco, and when I introduced him to my girl friend who grew up in Devon, she declined to meet him even though they both haven't met before.

This got me thinking what is it about Aussies that the Brits find so offensive? Is it a cultural thing?

The poms do enjoy stereotyping us as a bunch of uncultural ex-convicts. Indeed, it's quite sad when they come over and start making convict jokes. We just shake our heads; that's ancient history. Of course, if you said we're a nation of bogans, that might ring more true

I'll give you the "ex-convicts" complaint, that is fair. However the "uncultured" view is actually the fault of an Australian comedian who makes a living with a stage/TV/movie act that portrays his fellow countrymen as such. He has been doing it at least since the 1960s, and was extremely popular on TV in the 1970s, so it has kind of got ingrained into our beliefs.

A bogan is someone who wears a flag as a cape and has a sticker on their car that says "If you don't love it, leave." They name their kids Shaanayyia and Tieeagian. They chant sport slogans at war memorial services, have race riots and southern cross tattoos. They love mega churches and all you can eat restaurants.

Kind of like a redneck but with a McMansion in the outer suburbs.

Notwithstanding the fact that if an athlete in their mid-20s suddenly became good enough to make a grand slam final, had enormous muscles, yet came from China, the bogan would automatically assume that the athlete in question was doping. But Sam’s an Aussie, so it’s down to the hard work and persistence that the bogan automatically attributes to itself that Our Sam got to the top.

Brits DON'T find Australians offensive. In fact in the current climate where a hell of a lot of people are complaining "too many foreigners over here taking our jobs", the Aussies are about the only race that get exempt from this complaint.

And please don't consider Sharon Osbourne as a typical Brit, she isn't! It is like us considering Sarah Palin is a typical American!

As to why your friend from Devon would think this; well in Britain people from the West country (Devon and Cornwall) are considered inbred country bumpkins with six fingers on each hand, and the IQ of pavement, who, when not fucking their sister, are fucking the livestock! So please also don't consider your friend from Devon as a typical Brit, that is practically a hanging offence over here!

I can't remember the guy's name but I just heard the story of an Australian comic who did the best job of handling a table full of hecklers that I've ever heard about in my entire life. After he'd been heckled too far, he jumped off the stage onto their table, pulled down his pants, and started masturbating furiously while talking directly to them. Here's what he said:
