humph .. you caught me by surprise with the 3rd item. I always thought that was a personal preference on the part of the linklist owner, not a hard and fast 'rule'.

Our listed sites have always opened in a new window. We've never had a complaint. The surfers keep coming back and they keep on clicking on those site links. I know that I personally prefer a new window .. I can't stand clicking the back button over and over and over again.

Oh well, each to his own! Variety is what makes the world go around.
