Oh and I have a very dead 10 year iMac sitting here in the office. It was dropped of yesterday since it wouldn't startup. Its hard drive is dead, dead, dead, won't even show that it has a hard drive in it. It has ten years worth of work on its drive and it was never backed up. I could open it up and put a new drive in it but don't want to get involved it what is going to be a nightmare of opening it up, hoping that the screen doesn't get broken in the process, replacing the drive and then reinstalling everything. Then telling them that ten years worth of work is gone because they are a fucking idiot and never did a backup even once.
I told then it needs to go to the Apple store rather than me getting involved in this money losing mess. |

Most people need to experience at least one catastrophic data loss before learning to do regular backups. Quite often one is not sufficient.
