Home Schoolin' Today
Oh God, back to school day. It is a Sunday and I is doin' book learnin' on a Sunday!
All my eBooks are in PDF form, and for over a year now I have intended to drag them screaming and kicking into the 21st century. Most good eReaders can read PDF files, but most eReader owners don't know this (and many of those that do, don't want to use PDF files). So only offering PDF files is costing me money! However every time I look into converting I think "Fuck it, this is not worth the effort". Of course, I am lying to myself, it is worth the effort. Many $$$$$ worth the effort. But I am a lazy bastard, and money ain't so bad that I have to do book learnin' to make more. But today, I have decided, I have to spend time working out how to create ePub and Mobi (Kindle) files of all my books. Then I'm gonna have to spend the next few weeks creating the bloody things (about 100 books at a rough estimate). God, even the thought of it is enough to turn me to drink. |

I got through working out how to create and read ePub books. And I eventually managed to create a Mobi file with a lot of swearing and trial and error (lousy software manual). However when I tried to test my mobi file by reading it on Kindle for PC there was no option to open books direct from your hard drive. It only let you log into your Amazon account and read books stored there. I struggled with it for a while, then searched on Google for a long time, no luck. Eventually I went on Amazon's Kindle Help Forum and posted a question about this. This morning I got a reply: Quote:
It seems I don't just need to learn how to create ePub and mobi files, I need to take a course on the basics of using a computer! |
